OpenLight has secured $50 Million in Series A-1 funding to accelerate global deployment of next-generation photonics. This will be achieved through widescale adoption and commercialization of its heterogenously integrated, silicon photonics technology for AI and data center markets.
OpenLight is the world’s first open foundry, and a global leader in custom, Photonic ASIC chip design and manufacturing. The investment round will support continued growth with the development of its cutting-edge, heterogenously integrated photonic solutions, including expanding its PDK library; developing its integrated reference PICs at 1.6Tb/s and 3.2Tb/s; and strengthening its leading edge, 400Gb/s modulator technology.
The round was led by Matter Venture Partners, with participation from new investors, Acclimate Ventures and Catapult Ventures, alongside existing investors, Xora Innovation, Capricorn Investment Group, Mayfield, and New Legacy. “We at Matter Venture Partners are excited to lead this OpenLight investment round. Optical technology is critical to the future scaling of data centers and AI infrastructure. We believe OpenLight’s heterogeneous integrated silicon photonics platform will be the core ingredient to this worldwide global expansion of optical connectivity where power and bandwidth matter,” said Wen Hsieh, Founding Managing Partner at Matter Venture Partners.
