Redvision makes Stephen Lightfoot Technical Director.

Redvision, the UK manufacturer of the X-SERIES™ and VOLANT™ rugged, PTZ dome cameras and Redcop™, rapid deployment systems, has promoted Stephen Lightfoot to the position of Technical Director.

The appointment is a result of Redvision’s continued growth in UK and international markets and successful expansion of its IP and analogue product ranges.

Eneo’s new IER series, Linux-based NVRs have 8MP resolution, WARP control of additional NVRs and up to 32TB of internal storage.

Eneo’s new, IER series, network video recorders have an embedded Linux operating system. They comprise 4, 8 and 16 channel models of up to 5MP resolution, and 16 and 32 channel models of up to 8MP resolution.

“The IER recorders are designed to allow integrators to simply and easily fit their own hard drives to suit system requirements,” explains Jussi Simonen, Business Development Manager for eneo. “With one, two or four SATA HDD bays available, depending on the model, up to 32TB can be installed within the larger recorders. eSATA and iSCSI external storage capability can take this up by another 96TB. Our new, WARP feature also allows one ‘master’ eneo NVR to monitor and control other eneo NVRs on the same system, to create even larger, coordinated systems.”

The 5MP models (the IER-25R040004A, IER-25N080004A and IER-25N100004A) feature H.264 compression; up to 128 Mbps recording throughput; 130 watts PoE budget; HDMI and VGA monitor outputs; and up to 8 alarm inputs and one alarm output.

The higher spec, 8MP models (the IER-38R160005A and IER-38R320005A), are 19” rack-mountable with both H.264 and H.265 compression options; up to 320 Mbps recording throughput; 130 watts PoE budget; Ultra HD HDMI and Full HD VGA monitor outputs; and 16 alarm inputs and one alarm output.

All the IER recorders have CMS management software and a Smartphone viewing App, covert camera mode and motion detection.

Eneo’s new, IER series, recorder range is competitively priced and available now through eneo’s UK distribution channels.

VOLANT group

The ground-breaking VOLANT™, rugged, PTZ camera continues Redvision’s tough reputation.

Redvision, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-performance, rugged CCTV cameras and housings, has launched IP and analogue, VOLANT™ rugged domes. The VOLANT™ is by far the fastest, quietest and most accurate, rugged, PTZ camera available in today’s security industry.

Stephen Lightfoot, technical director at Redvision, explains, “The VOLANT™ draws on Redvision’s extensive experience of building cameras for tough, hazardous and corrosive, outdoor surveillance applications. We took features from our acclaimed X-SERIES™ PTZ, which we consider critical for rugged applications. We have a die-cast, aluminium body and flat, optically-correct, toughened glass camera window with silicon wiper, for outdoor use. We have also developed a unique, encoder interface, so the VOLANT™ and X-SERIES™ work seamlessly on the same control platforms, with an identical, Redvision web interface.

“Redvision has used the Sony STARVIS 30x camera module to achieve exceptional, low-light performance. The VOLANT™ includes integrated, Dual-Adaptive™ IR and white light LED illuminators, set in a ring surrounding the camera window. These provide optimal lighting in any field of view and are effective up to 150m in complete darkness. We have also adopted the preset, short-cut control from the X-SERIES™, to allow fast access to white-light for immediate, target illumination and colour verification.

“Lastly, the VOLANT™ uses Infinity™ direct drive, brushless DC motors for its fast, accurate and silent operation. These give highly flexible, continuous rotation in both the pan and tilt axis. Not only can it pan at 360°/second to a pre-set, but the VOLANT™ can also move extremely slowly to track a target or person at 300m. The Infinity™ motors also deliver military-level, positional accuracy, and if knocked or moved out of position, the VOLANT™ will recover to its correct position.”

IP and analogue models of VOLANT™ cameras are available, including ONVIF compliant, Full HD, IP with 30x optical zoom and SD analogue with 20x or 30x optical zoom.

Digifort VMS and Analytics takes H.265 HEVC compression in to the 4K era.

4K, ultra-HD (8MP) resolution has not yet been widely adopted in the security industry because of its huge bandwidth and data storage overhead. For images to remain high quality, the bitrate of the video stream is often capped.

H.265 HEVC is different. It provides a higher and more efficient compression rate than H.264, whilst retaining ultra-HD image quality.

Digifort VMS, from Security Buying Group, has acknowledged the benefits of H.265 HEVC and has already developed drivers for the following leading brands:
