Heat testing

Don’t feel the heat, use Redvision X-SERIES™ cameras.

Before entering the African, Middle Eastern and Southern European markets, Redvision established its X-SERIES™ camera’s performance in hotter climate conditions.

Paul Hucker, MD of Redvision, explains, “Exceeding the operating temperature of an electrical and electronic product, or the temperature tolerance of the components within it, dramatically shortens its life and jeopardizes warranties. The product operating temperature will be above the ambient climatic temperature, due to the heat generated by components. In the X-SERIES™, the prime contributors are the PTZ motor, LED illuminators and power supply. Exposure to direct sunlight also has a significant effect.”

Redvision approached TÜV SÜD, a world-leading provider of testing and product certification to carry out a series of independent tests on the X-SERIES™, simulating operation in hotter climates. The test ran for 24 hours, with ambient temperature rising to 44°C and solar radiation peaking at 1120 W/m². Temperature probes were used to record the internal temperature of the camera. Three cameras in three different configurations were tested - with sunshield and with IR LEDs on; without sunshield and with IRs on, the worst case scenario; and without sunshield and with IR’s off. Testing was carried out with power, LEDs and drives running simultaneously and at maximum.

Paul added, “The results were unprecedented and showed that the X-SERIES™ internal camera temperature only rose slightly above ambient temperature, in all three scenarios. The contributing factors for success were; reducing stationary torque by 50% so using less power; efficient LED’s with minimal heat generation; the heat-sink, cooling benefit of the X-SERIES™ cast aluminum construction; energy saving power management; using 24V dc supply to avoid the heat from AC conversion; a sunshield for shade from direct sunlight; and using high quality components with a wide temperature range tolerance.”

The X-SERIES™ cameras are fit for purpose in hot climates. Redvision is very pleased that its green, eco-design approach not only keeps energy costs very low, but can also prevent adverse heat generation.

Thermal bullet 204408 ed

eneo’s thermal imaging IP bullet cameras provide site security and long-range intrusion detection.

eneo’s thermal cameras, part of the ‘Candid’ product range, will detect people at up to 3,850 metres (PTB-1125F35), day or night.

They are an excellent choice for perimeter protection or for monitoring large expanses, such as solar fields and car parks. They are also popular in residential applications where detecting people without positively identifying them complies with data protection and privacy requirements.

The eneo Candid thermal cameras are available in three different sensor options with resolutions of 160x120, 336x256 and 640x512 pixels. These provide increasing levels of scene detail and detection distance. Lens options of 7.5 mm, 9 mm, 13 mm, 19 mm and 35 mm offer fields of view from 9.3°to 69°. eneo’s use of uncooled thermal modules not only delivers outstanding thermal sensitivity of 50 MK at 25°C, but also ensures reliable, trouble-free operation for many years.

Martin Morris, eneo Business Development Manager UK & Ireland, explained: “Our thermal cameras come in an IP67 rated, cable-managed housing, designed for indoor or outdoor, wall or ceiling mounting. Their operating temperature range is an impressive -35 to 50°C and power options include 24v, 12v and PoE. They have both Ethernet and Composite Video outputs in a choice of H.264 and MJPEG compression standards. USB and RS-422 remote interface connections enable quick and easy installation with web browser or remote software-based set-up. They are ONVIF Profile S compatible and have a number of configurable privacy options. Each has an eneo 3 year warranty.”

Digifort GUI 4 screen

Security Buying Group increases its VMS and analytics capability with Digifort.

Digifort has incredible functionality and scalability yet offers installers a cost-effective, intuitive VMS and analytics solution.

It is available in four license types, Explorer (up to 16 cameras), Standard (up to 32 cameras), Professional (up to 64 cameras) and Enterprise (any number of cameras and sites).

Digifort analytic functions include ANPR, traffic management (speed filter), object tracking, loitering, virtual fence, missing object, abandoned object, face detection, vehicle counting and people counting.

“Digifort has some powerful features like object speed,” explained Paul Scott, Technical Director of the Security Buying Group. “This can be used for traffic management, triggering alarms when vehicles exceed speed limits. We also have iLIDS compliance and a monitoring solution.

“Digiforts’s Explorer is a cost-effective, entry-level VMS option that competes with NVR pricing but offers many benefits over NVR technology. It scales all the way up to Enterprise solutions, with unlimited users and cameras. It is easy and intuitive to set up, from IT infrastructure through to site commissioning and analytics. There is no annual fee for maintenance. Users only buy enhancements if they need them, such as adding ANPR or version upgrades. The system is compatible with edge analytics from leading camera suppliers, supports edge recording and enables client workstations of up to eight monitors.”

All training courses are available on-line, keeping costs and time commitment down to a minimum.

Grundig Security launches comprehensive TVI camera and recorder range.

Grundig Security is pleased to announce the launch of its new TVI cameras and recorders.

The TVI range is split into the Connect, Professional and Top Line ranges. Each range offers outstanding quality and design, with levels of functionality and pricing to suit all budgets.

Grundig’s TVI technology allows full HD resolution video to be transmitted up to 500m over coaxial cable, with little or no loss of image quality. It is a simple, ‘plug and play’ network solution for sites using new or existing coax cable infrastructures. No integration is necessary and no network knowledge is needed to use TVI technology. It presents an effective solution to installers with specialist analogue expertise wishing to use Full HD cameras and recorders.

Grundig’s TVI cameras are compact, IP66 rated and contain built-in IR LEDs for night time operation. They are set up using the camera on-screen display (OSD) menu, which can be remotely accessed, via the coax, from Grundig’s TVI recorders. The Connect range comprises eyeball and bullet cameras with fixed lens options of 2.8 or 3.6mm with a DSP and sensor combination designed for accurate colour reproduction. The Professional range comprises eye-ball, fixed dome and bullet cameras with a 2.8 ~12mm vari-focal lens, WDR functionality and 60 FPS dual shutter operation. The Top Line TVI range comprises fixed dome and bullet cameras with 2.8 ~12 mm, DC iris, vari-focal lens with precision adjustment and a motorised zoom lens option. They use Exmor, CMOS sensors for exceptional, low light sensitivity, clear night time vision and minimal noise. They also include long life, black LEDs and offer 16 privacy zones.

Grundig’s TVI recorders have TRI-BRID functionality where TVI, analogue and IP cameras can be auto-detected and set up on the same unit. The 4 and 8 channel recorders allow 2 extra IP cameras to be added, 4TB of storage, support NAS and enable comprehensive alarm management. The 16 channel unit has up to 16TB and eSATA support. The recorders offer intuitive set up, user management, event management, play back, search and back up functionality.

The TVI range comes with a wide variety of brackets, mounts and accessories to suit all applications.
