Peter Linksted places 9th in the canoe slalom, at the Junior World Championships.

11 August 2017

Peter Linksted, the British Junior Canoe Slalom Champion, sponsored by CST Global, placed a phenomenal 9th in the canoe slalom at the 2017 ICF U23 and Junior World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, in July.

More than 400 athletes from 50 countries, including Olympic medalists and finalists, compete at the World’s. As a 17-year-old, to place 9th in the under 18 category, is an incredible achievement and a great indicator of Peter’s potential for Tokyo 2020. The result also secured Peter a dedicated coach, as a recognized Olympic medal hopeful.

Peter used the custom-built paddle, that was purchased with CST Global sponsorship funds, as well as his new canoe (pictured).

The Czech Republic was the most successful nation at World Championships, ahead of host nation, Slovakia, with Germany third. Germany dominated the team competitions, winning four out of a possible eight titles. Great Britain placed in the women’s U23 C1 team, finishing ahead of Spain and the Czech Republic.

Congratulations Peter and good luck for European Canoe Slalom Junior and U23 Championships in Hohenlimburg, Germany, later in August!
