CST Global’s Sharon Doonin completes the 2017 ‘Off The Beatson Track’, 10k cancer charity walk.

01 September 2017

Sharon Doonin, PA Administrator at CST Global, successfully completed the ‘Off The Beatson Track 2017’ annual 10k walk to raise money for The Beatson Cancer Charity. The charity supports The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre (BWoSCC), the UK’s most advanced NHS cancer hospital. It delivers an unprecedented level of care to thousands of patients from across the West of Scotland.

Over 5,000 participants of all ages took part in Off The Beatson Track, wearing mostly yellow. It has become Glasgow’s biggest, best and ‘most yellow’, sponsored walk and is a great day out for friends, family, colleagues and dogs!

Sharon, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, said, “I don’t want to be a statistic. I’ve lost too many special people to cancer and it’s affected too many people I know and love. I’m almost 2 years down the line. Fortunately, I am doing well and much healthier and fitter than I’ve ever been. I’m so lucky that I can do this small gesture to raise some much-needed funds for the Beatson.”

The Off The Beatson Track route starts and finishes at Glasgow’s Riverside Museum. It passes the West of Scotland Cricket Club and The Beatson itself, before following the river Kelvin Walkway past the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum and Kelvinhall Sports Arena.

The Beatson Cancer Charity (Reg. No. SC044442), of which Off The Beatson Track is a part, provides patients and staff with the most cutting-edge equipment, treatments and surroundings to fight cancer. The team also offers a range of complementary therapies to help relax patients and provide relief from pain, insomnia, nausea, phobia and anxiety.

‘Off The Beatson Track 2017’, which took place on 27th August, has raised just under £100,000 and counting.
